Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 21, 1965:

Adam P. Becker, son of Jacob and Helena (Unruh) Becker, was born Dec. 1, 1882 in McPherson Co., Kansas and passed away on Sept. 23, 1965 in the Bethesda Hospital at Goessel, Kansas. He reached the age of 82 years, 9 months and 23 days. Death was caused by a heart attack.
At the age of 17 he was converted into a new life in Christ and received baptism on May 2, 1899, remaining a faithful member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite unto the end.
On April 14, 1933 he was united in marriage to Susie Nightengale. They shared joys and sorrows of life together for 32 years, 5 months and 10 days.
He has been a good husband and his companionship has been enjoyable. His kind and gentle reproofs have often encouraged me, our every needs were always supplied. His delight in church services were manifest in his urge to attend whenever possible. Many of his evenings were spent at home reading his old German Bible and other spiritual literature.
He enjoyed good health most of his life until about 9 years ago when he suffered a stroke, from which he recovered fairly well. About 8 weeks ago he suffered another stroke and had been hospitalized several times since. During his last time there he realized more than ever that his appointed time was drawing near, ex-pressing desire for more faith. After earnest prayers and confessions he expressed relief and faith in his hope. A few days later he passed quietly into his eternal rest, leaving us an assurance of his hope.
He leaves to mourn his departure, me his sorrowing companion, Susie; 1 brother and 1 sister, Mr. A. J. C. Becker and Mrs. Susie Koehn both of Galva. Also other relatives and friends.
His parents and 5 brothers preceded him in death.

Silently he closed his eyelids,
Near the ending of the day.
God had called Oh, so gently;
Quietly he slipped away.

"Come unto me, Ye who are weary;
Come and I will give thee rest."
There he lay, so softly sleeping
In his last eternal rest.

In his youth he heard God calling;
Repent and cleanse your life from sin.
To be a laborer in his vineyard.
Fourscore years God gave to him.

We know this life is full of trials,
But thru God's grace we stand the test.
And we know God in His wisdom,
Always knows just what is best.

For the ones he left behind him,
It's so hard to say good-bye,
But we have the hope that some day
We will meet beyond the sky.

Funeral services were conducted in the Lone Tree Mennonite Church Sunday afternoon, September 26, 1965. Minister Jonas B. Koehn brought the message from 2 Kings 20:1 and Hebrews 13:14.
Interment was made in the nearby cemetery.
