Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 9, 1960:

John B. Becker, was born April 23, 1881, near Halstead, Kansas, and passed away April 18, 1960 at his home in Halstead, reaching the age of 79 years, less 5 days.
He received his education and grew to manhood near Halstead.
August 12, 1905 he was married to Lena Buller, who preceded him in death April 12, 1928; sharing joys and sorrows of life for 22 years. This union was blest with 5 sons and 4 daughters: Paul of Sedgwick, Kansas, Glenn of Halstead, Kansas, Goldie (Mrs. Albert Koehn) of DeRidder, La., Violet, (Mrs. Howard Koehn) of Eldorado, Kansas and Ervin and Ada who died in their youth.
Upon feeling the need of a Saviour he repented of his sins, found peace with God and was baptized unto the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, February 25, 1916, remaining faithful to the end.
February 24, 1929 he was married to Mrs. Lydia Unruh, receiving her children as his very own. The Lord greatly blest them and for 31 years they have enjoyed life together, being a great comfort and help to each other in their declining age and health.
They have lived at Goltry, Oklahoma, McPherson, Kansas, and in 1928 they came back to Halstead, Kansas. His occupation was farming and after leaving the farm they lived in their home in Halstead.
He was faithful, kind, loving and a very friendly husband, father, and grandfather, and had a deep concern for the welfare of his children whom he so much loved and enjoyed. He was also known as a faithful brother and a true Christian witness.
He enjoyed fair health until the last few years when his heart condition kept him weak and a few times he had to go to the hospital for a short stay. Three weeks ago he had not been feeling so well but he recovered again so that he attended church services the last two Sundays. Monday morning he ate his breakfast as usual, went out to do a few chores, when a little ways from the house he had an heart attack and without a word he passed away to be with the Lord whom he loved and served.
He leaves to mourn his sudden departure: his wife, 11 sons, 7 daughters, 67 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and many other relatives and friends. One son, 1 daughter, 1 grandchild, 16 brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

When all is done, and my last word is said,
And ye who loved me murmur, "He is dead";
Let no one weep, for fear that I should know,
And sorrow too, that ye should sorrow so.

When all is done, say not my day is o'er,
And that through night I seek a dimmer shore;
Say rather that my morn has just begun,-
I greet the dawn and not the setting sun,
When all is done.

Funeral services were held in the Grace Mennonite church, Halstead, on Thursday, April 21, 1960. Min. Arnold Wiggers made introductory remarks and prayer. Min. Carl Dirks brought the message from James 4:13, 14; St. John 5:28, 29; I Cor. 15:55-57; Phil. 1:21; Rev. 7:9, 10; 13:14.
Interment was made in the Lone Tree Cemetery, Galva, Kansas.
