Leo died Sunday morning, January 1, 2017, at his home in Midvale.

He was born in Penasco, New Mexico on December 23, 1932 to Ruben and Beatrice Martinez. He moved to Utah to work at Kennecott at age eighteen. He met and married his wife, Gloria Gallegos, in Bingham Canyon.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; son, Leo (Lisa); daughter, Rebecca; and sister, Ernestina (Fermin) Duran. He has eighte grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Tom and Bill; and three brothers, Luciano, Manuel, and Andres.

He loved his Friday night Bingo, loved his morning coffee visits with friends and cousins, and enjoyed playing cards with his grandkids. He was a great provider (thirty-three years at Kennecott). Although he was stubborn at times, he cherished his family. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Therese Catholic Church, 7832 Allen Street, Midvale. A viewing and rosary will be held the night before, Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 6:00-8:00.
Interment will be held in the Midvale City Cemetery.
