Robert Dale Abbey, 84, of Andover, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017 in Wichita.
Visitation 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Service 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Life Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Andover Cemetery, Andover.
Robert was born in Belpre, Kan. on Dec. 30, 1932, to the late Wretta (Clark) and Theodore Lester Abbey. He served in the U.S. Army, and later was an engineer at Beech Aircraft. Robert enjoyed country music and dancing, he played the guitar and the harmonica, and was an avid outdoorsman. On January 5, 1957 he married Mary Jane (Kropp) Abbey in Wichita, who survives him.
He is also survived by: daughters, Linda Abbey of Andover and Cathy Evans of Wichita; grandchild, Rachael Stonecipher and husband Daniel; great grandchildren, Cassadee and Dawson Stonecipher, and Faith Ellison.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Abbey.
