Jerry Edward Gilbert, age 73, of Swanson Drive SW, Lenoir, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at his residence. He was born December 20, 1943 in Catawba County to the late Bill and Myrtle Young Gilbert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Ericia Peterkin.
Mr. Gilbert was retired from Coca-Cola and was a U. S. Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Burleson Gilbert of the home; one daughter, Heather McLamb of Durham; two brothers, Allen Gilbert of Lenoir and Ronnie Gilbert of Morganton; one sister, Dianne Cline of North Wilkesboro; his pride and joy, two grandchildren, Brooke and Trent Peterkin; and his faithful companions, Jagger, Oreo, Gucci and Sophie..
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Randy Wise. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Trent Peterkin, Chris Triplett, Chris Nicholson, Darrick Crump, Andrew Killette and Dylan Burleson.
