Betty J. Moyer, 84, of Jefferson Township, died Sunday at the Penn State St. Joseph's Hospital where she had been a patient since last Tuesday. She was the widow of Francis A. Moyer, who died in 2008. Betty was born on April 3, 1932 in Tulpehocken Township. She was the daughter of the late Augustus and Marie (Reber) Edris.
Surviving are eight sisters and a brother: Dorothy J. Gensemer of Myerstown; Annmae Riffer of Akron; Fern Phillipy of Richland; Janis Horst of Newmanstown; Phyllis Baylor of Myerstown; Carol Burkholder of Lititz; Donna Crouse of Lebanon; Susan Patches of Richland; and Terry J. Edris of Myerstown.
Betty was predeceased by two brothers; Eugene and Gary Edris.
Mrs. Moyer was a member of Christ Free Evangelical Church. She was, also, a member of the Blue Mountain Fifty-Plus. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and playing the organ.
Betty was a graduate of the former Bethel High School.
Betty and her husband were dedicated farmers during their lifetime.
Funeral services for Betty will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Free Evangelical Church, 8477 PA 183, Bethel, PA 19507. Family will receive friends Thursday, 9:30 until time of service. Interment in Strausstown Cemetery.
