Raymond E. Beasley, age 89, died in Norman, Oklahoma where he had moved shortly before his death. Raymond served his country as a noncommissioned officer in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and the Solomon Islands campaign. He also served in the Army Corp of Engineers constructing the Al-Can Highway. Raymond and his wife, Winnie, moved to Santa Fe in 1945 and recently resided at the El Castillo Apartments. While in Santa Fe, Raymond worked as office manager at Cartwright Hardware on Lincoln Avenue.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie A. Beardsley, a resident artist and Art Teacher in Santa Fe. Raymond and Winnie are survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held today, May 4, 2004, at 2 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. McGee Memorial Chapel Mortuary.
