Bennett, Gerald William “Bill” Age 88; of Breckenridge, Michigan; passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 peacefully at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, Michigan on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Noon with Rev. Fr. Andrzej Boroch as Celebrant. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon prior to the Mass at the Church. Bill was born March 6, 1928 in Detroit, MI the son of Roy and Nina (Fouch) Bennett. He married Victoria Bajena Porter on January 11, 1969. Bill resided most of his life in Breckenridge, MI. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a truck driver for 38 years. Bill enjoyed watching Tigers baseball, game shows and hockey. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling to Arizona where he spent winters. Bill was a life member of the Alma Elks Lodge for 43 years. He was also a life member of the Nativity of the Lord Parish, St. Louis. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Vickie Bennett of Breckenridge, MI; son, Dave Bennett of Lewiston, MI; step-sons, Thomas and Becky Porter of Arizona, J. Patric and Kathy Porter of Gregory, MI, Christopher Porter of Arizona; step-daughters, Susan and Donald Smith of Alma, Linda and Gary Johnson of Alma, MI, Marianne and Patrick Betts of St. Louis, MI; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Myatt of California. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Richard Anthony Porter; sister, Eleanor Booth; brothers, Roy and Gawain Bennett. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Nativity of the Lord Parish, St. Louis.
