David Phillips Beardsley, age 86, of Hendersonville passed away on Friday, December 23rd, 2016 at Mission Hospital, Asheville, in the company of his loving wife, Velma E. Beardsley. He was born in Auburn, NY on October 6th, 1930, the son of the late, Wallace Pearne and Mildred Peck Beardsley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly B. Beardsley; and by two brothers, James and Wallace.
He was a graduate of Auburn High School, Cornell University and Rochester University. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville. Dave was involved in many community and volunteer organizations.
Dave is mourned by, Velma, his loving wife of 11 years; his children: two daughters, Terry Perkins and her husband, C.B. of Mystic, CT and Linda of Salem, OR; one son, Scott Beardsley and his wife, Liz Eber of Wynnewood, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Courtney Ydstie and her husband, Adam of Tacoma, WA, Phillip Beardsley-Schoonmaker of Brighton, MA and Adam and Jacob of Wynnewood, PA; great-granddaughter, Astrid Rose Ydstie; sisters-in-law, Eleanor of Hendersonville and Lynn of Ithaca, NY; two nephews and three nieces.
A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6th, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville. Reverend Dr. Mark Ralls, Senior Pastor and Reverend Christy Sharp will officiate.
