Enlisted in Moore County at age 39 on June 3, 1861.  Enlisted as Sergeant and promoted to Quartermaster Sergeant, December 1, 1861.  Discharged sometime after August, 1862 as per articles of the Conscription Act. 149

Richard Street, III was born near Glendon, Moore County, North Carolina, 21 April 1822.   He was the son of Col. Richard Street, II (1779-1826) and Ann MacQueen  (1791-1857).  He was a farmer by trade but occasionally dabbled in medicine.  He died 23 Sep 1899 and was buried in the Street Family Cemetery located near the mouth of McLendon Creek on Deep River.  The Street family later moved to a site just west of Glendon.

Richard Street, III was married twice.  His first wife was Elizabeth Dobbin (1826-1858).  She and Richard had one child, a son, named John Dobbin Street (b. 1858-1950).

On 18 Nov 1862 Richard married his second wife, Nancy Candace Phillips (1843-1906) in Moore County.  Candace was the daughter of Rev. Louis Phillips (1806-1902) and Nancy Edwards (1909-1890).
