US Congressman. From 1876 to 1880 he was the prosecuting attorney of Wayne County, Indiana, and a member of the State Senate from 1887 to 1889. In 1891 he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-second Congress and to the three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1899. After his congressional career he lived in Missouri until 1900, then returned to Indiana and resumed his former law practice until his death.
