Mrs. Mary E. Tice was married last evening- at her house, in' Wilson Place, to George H. Gedney of Mount Vernon. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Frank L. Mas-seek of th Universalist Church. The bride is the widow of Justice Leonard Tice of Mount Vernon. Her first husband was a Mr. Dowker. Her daughter. Mary Doretta Dowker was married Thursday evening- to George Snyder of Jackson. Mich. John Pease, who was best man at the wedding of Mr. Snyder and Miss Dowker, also acted as best man at the wedding of Mr. Gedney and Mrs. Tice last evening. .
Mary Emma referred to herself as "Emma". Her father was Talman Pugsley Hyde, her mother Mary Ann Underhill. She had one brother, Nehemiah. When Underhill died, Talman married my great grandmother Amelia Wing Tice, the widow of Isaac P. Tice. Ironically, Emma married Tice's younger brother Capt. Leonard D. Tice. They had 3 daughters, two of whom are buried next to their father in St. Paul's. When Tice died she married George H. Gedney. Their is an excellent biography of her on the National Park Service website by David Osborn. She has a large monument in St. Paul's.
