Mr. Thomas Jack Short, age 76, a resident of Sparta, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born Thursday, January 13, 1940 in Pikeville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Pearl Short and the late Della Burke Short. He was a retired cabinet maker. He loved all of his children, grandchilren and great grandchildren very deeply. Thomas was a caring man who invited anyone into his home with open arms and an open heart. Thomas Jack Short will be missed and remembered by all his family members and friends.

three brothers - Leondist Short, John Short and Aubrey Short
one sister - Barbara Dempsey
seven children - Tom Short Jr, Mark Short, Todd Short, Tim Short, Deborah

grandchildren - Michael Short, Eric Smith, Kimberley Short, Marti Wolfe,
Patience Short, Matthew Short, Thomas Clark, Tyler Short,
Zack Short, Lexi Hernandez, Jonathon Short, Julia Short,
Heather Leslie, Kalib Smith and Brittany Smith.
Several great grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents Mr Short is preceded in death by great granddaughter, Sariah Best and a sister, Sue Short Hardin.
Funeral services for Mr. Short will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Freddie Copeland officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service on Tuesday from from 12 noon until 2pm at the funeral home.
