Billie Louellen Boone, 78, of The Villages at
Greystone in Beaver, WV for the last four years, formerly
of Summersville, WV, died December 29, 2016, in the
Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. She was born
January 20, 1938, in Richwood, WV. She was the
daughter of the late Willie Burl Goff and Opal Arthur Goff.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her sister Rebecca Lynn Goff.
Billie graduated from Richwood High School and
attended nursing school at the University of Virginia.
After becoming a registered nurse she worked at the UVA
Hospital and Boston General Hospital. In 1966, Billie
returned to Nicholas County to be close to and help her
parents.
In 1967 she married Larry A. Tucker and they had
one son, William Kelly Tucker. She began teaching the
Allied Health Care classes for Certified Nursing Assistants
at the Nicholas Vocation Technical Center. During her
teaching years she was recognized for many
accomplishments in the health care training field.
Billie was a member of the Southern Baptist
Fellowship in Summersville. She was very active in the
Women’s Mission Union and lead many study sessions.
In prior churches she played the piano and lead Sunday
school classes.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Daniel Boone;
one son William Kelly Tucker (Lori) of Princeton, WV;
grandsons Alexander William Tucker and Riley
Christopher Tucker of Princeton, WV; step-children, Greg
Tucker and Pam Cline, both of Summersville, Alan Tucker
of Gastonia, and Gary Tucker of Minneapolis, MN; step-
granddaughter, Savannah Schmitz (Woody) of
Reynoldsburg, OH; step-great granddaughter, Elsie
Schmitz of Reynoldsburg, OH; sister, Betty Ann Kelley
(Herbert) of Charlotte, NC, and brother, Paul David Goff
(Kay) of Covington, GA.
Her family wishes to acknowledge and thank the
caregivers at Greystone who have helped make the
families last years with Billie so pleasant.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday,
January 2, 2017 in the White Funeral Home at
Summersville with the Rev. Dennis Cherry officiating.
Burial will follow in Walker Memorial Park in
Summersville. Friends may call at the funeral home on
the day of the services one hour prior to the services.
In thanksgiving for Billie’s life and generous spirit, the
family invites memorial contributions to the UVA School of
Nursing, 225 Jeanette Lancaster Way, Charlottesville, VA
