Excerpts from his obituary In The Hancock Democrat (Greenfield, Indiana). 9 Jun 1910, Thu., pg. 8:
Daniel Burris, an old citizen and an old soldier living two miles south of town, died Sunday night at eleven o’clock with kidney trouble. He was raised near Maple Valley. He leaves only a wife, except brothers and sisters and half brothers and sisters. The funeral was held at his home near the Conklin school house and then the body was taken to Knightstown and laid to rest.

His portrait is displayed at the Henry County Historical Society Museum.
