Loving father, devoted husband, convicted servant of Christ, avid outdoors adventurer, brave warrior, brilliant mind – these are but a few of the characteristics that only begin to describe the incredible man that Todd Miller is.

Todd began his life in the beautiful college town of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born to Dr. Brian Paul Miller and Pamella Miller (Merritt) on June 21, the longest day of the year, Todd was a strong and bright, shining light from the start. In his childhood, he loved being outdoors, fishing, hiking, camping, and even hunting frogs and beavers (which, he regrettably shared with his family to eat). He had a bright mind, which he developed in his years in Olympics of the Mind with his other friends, creating, sometimes scheming, and always having fun. During these early years, his family grew with the addition of his sister, Michelle; step-sister, Melinda; step-dad, Duane Merritt; step-mom, KC Miller; and little brother, Ryan Miller.

In his high school years, he was a mediocre football player on land. Alternatively, in the water, he was a thing to behold. He flew through lanes with ease – In fact, the last time we checked, his record time in the 50 yard dash still stood as the fastest time recorded in his Traverse City High School pool. During this time, he also enjoyed long summer days on the beach with his Grandpa and Grandma VanDyne, swimming in the bay, hitting golf balls into the woods, and hanging out with his cousins and family. During vacations, he and sister would also adventure in Arizona with their dad, visiting grandparents Joy and Don Miller on the way.

His college years, well, those were a story of love. In his freshman year, he met his heart, Lisa Michelle. From the first moment, he was awe struck. No more than a month into their relationship, he called up to announce to his sister that he had met his future wife (little did Lisa know at the time). From that moment on, he was devoted to her, growing with her in love and faith, and eventually family.

Northern Arizona University was the launching point of a long and highly decorated career in the U.S. Air Force. Entering as an ROTC scholarship student, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in May 1991, but did not enter active duty service until the following year due to force reductions and budget cuts. So, in the meantime, Todd took a job with a local Rent-To-Own store in Flagstaff where he was assigned to the collections department (aka repossession). His route was the Navaho Indian reservation in northern Arizona. He came home with many extremely colorful stories about being chased by dogs and unhappy customers as he took possession of their unpaid for items. As a result, 'Repo' became his call sign on the airborne command and throughout his career. Todd's gifted mind excelled as Intelligence and Targeting Officer, retiring honorably after this last year at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Todd would go on to serve twenty-three years in the USAF. During his career, he obtained three Masters Degrees in Engineering, Business Administration, and Public Administration and was working on a degree in counseling.

In 1998, Lisa and Todd introduced their first child, Brett, while stationed with the Air Force in Nebraska. Four years later, Lauren Joy was ushered into the world on the beautiful island of Oahu. Another blessing, Annelise Grace, was welcomed on a snowy April morning and brought back to their warm Colorado home in the forest.
Their family complete, Todd and Lisa devoted their lives to the betterment of their children. Todd could not have loved any deeper. When not busy working, fixing up the house, coaching his kids, or fishing (there was A LOT of fishing…), Todd gave freely of his time and talents to his church community. He was a committed fisher of men, in service to Christ and sharing his grace, all the while growing in faith with his family and friends.

In 2010, God's hand moved the Miller family back to their beloved home in the Pacific. There, Todd's heart for the Lord grew as he watched his family blossom. There, every sunset was accompanied by two tracks of footprints in the sand. Todd and Lisa developed a rich group of friends who loved, supported, and grew with them. Through trials and troubles, this group abided with the family and with Todd. We, as his family, are forever grateful for their past and continued support.

On December 28, 2016, Todd went to be with his father in heaven, resting in his peace and grace. We are so thankful to all who have been part of his story, both the joyous and difficult times. It is with grateful hearts that we say thank you to you all, and bid goodbye, for now, to our much beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

Todd Miller loved with a fire. He spoke words of wisdom, truth, and often times, told jokes so bad you had to laugh. His passion for others had no bounds. Todd's warm smile beamed as much from his eyes as it did from his mouth. His bellowing laugh resounds in the canyons and mountains through which he trekked, as well as in the hearts of all who heard it. His rugged visage carried both strength and compassion. Even in times of weakness, Todd's strong arms were a place of refuge for all. The only one to ever love deeper than Todd Christopher Miller is the one who holds him now. We will cherish his heart, and his fire will never go out.
