Janet Ann Hanson, 65, of Pensacola, FL, passed away with her family at her side Wednesday, December 28, 2016 after battling Aphasia & Dementia.

Jan was born January 24, 1951 in San Jose, CA. She moved to Georgia in 1969, where she graduated from Cherokee High School. She moved back to Pensacola in 1970, where she attended nursing school at Pensacola Junior College before joining the Navy in 1971. Jan was stationed in Norfolk, VA, where she met the love of her life, Bill. After their service in the Navy, they returned to Pensacola and were married August 19, 1972.

Jan stayed home to raise her daughter, Lisa, until Lisa began school. She then worked for Dr. John Axley for twelve years before working for Dr. Gary Gotthelf until she decided to retire. Jan loved and adored her two granddaughters, Spring and Savanna, whom she dedicated much of her time to. She enjoyed traveling with Bill and was fortunate enough to walk the beaches of the world. She was an avid reader, her favorite author being Nicholas Sparks. Jan took great pride in decorating her beautiful home and enjoyed spending time by the pool in her backyard.

Jan is preceded in death by her grandparents. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Bill Hanson; her mother, Dora Mae Naske; daughter, Lisa Robinson; sisters, Joan Cumblidge, Debbie (Lamar) Pate; granddaughters, Spring (Justin) Zepp, Savanna Robinson and fiance, Hunter; nieces, Carrie and Sarah (Mike); and nephew, Paul (Shanell). Jan also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Molly and Peaches.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Thursday, January 5, 2017 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rebecca Martin from Baptist Hospital and the wonderful staff of Covenant Care Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Covenant Care Hospice.
