Gladys M. Ripley, 91, of Roanoke, formerly of Buchanan passed away Sunday, December 28, 1997 in a local hospital. She was the widow of Paul Ripley and was a member of Mount Joy Church of the Brethren. Surviving are her daughters & sons-in-law, Marie C. and Carl Broughman, Roanoke, June I. and Jack Shafer, Natural Bridge. Five grandchildre n, six great-grandchildren, Brother and sister-in-law, Bennett and Gladys Pursley, Buchanan, sister-in-law, Lucy Pursley, Buchanan, Cousins, Ella and Bill Smith, and Barbara Chamberlain all of California. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Fair View Cemetery, Buchanan, Va. by Pastor Harold S. Moyer and the Rev. Bobby Riley. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home 5160 Creek Road.
