Kent Arnett Turner, age 90, of the Pricetown Community of Weston, WV passed away at 7:52 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, with his loving family by his side, following a brief rehabilitation stay in Crestview Manor in Jane Lew.
He was born in Lewis County, WV on May 15, 1926 the son of the late Arnett Turner and Oleta Jarvis Turner.
On August 29, 1947 he married his high school sweetheart, Frances Lamb, who will miss him dearly after 69 years of marriage.
His humble, caring nature will be carried on by his three children: Joyce Sidmore and husband, Ronald, of Indiana, PA, Micheal Turner and wife, Rhonda, of Keith Fork, and David Turner and wife, Brenda, of Jane Lew; four grandchildren: John Turner and wife Christy, Daniel Turner and wife Maggie, Chad Turner and wife Jessica, and Shannon Curtis; five great grandchildren; and two cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Turner.
Kent was an honored veteran of the United States Army, having served as a paratrooper during World War II. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor for Grafton Coal Company and retired after 44 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, and boating. Most importantly, “Pop” treasured time spent with his family, who he took great pride in protecting, guiding, teaching, and loving so they could build upon his legacy one day.
Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 4-8 PM on Saturday, December 31, 2016.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Sunday from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Martin Wine officiating. Interment will follow in the Weston Masonic Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
