Gregory Lloyd Strickland passed away December 26, 2016 peacefully in his home after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Greg was born in Montgomery, Alabama but spent most of his childhood in Mandeville, Louisiana. He was a resident of Houston since 1995. After graduating first in his class from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Greg obtained an MBA from Tulane University. He spent most of his career as an oil trader for companies across the Houston area. He was a lifelong LSU football fan and found joy in sipping on his favorite bourbon while listening to his extensive music collection or playing his banjo. An avid reader, Greg spent the past several years collecting and reading every Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winner since 1950. Greg lived his life with integrity, striving to be a positive role model for others. He enjoyed good conversation, good food (especially when he cooked it) and the company of those he loved. He is survived by his five children: Michael, Sarah, Cyprien, Amelia and Eden, and his wife, Elizabeth. A small memorial service will be held in Louisiana in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on his behalf to Louisiana State Parks at:
