Born Jan. 2, 1938, in Manassas, Va., she was a daughter of the late Malvin and Edna (Cordell) Schaeffer. On Sept. 29, 1956, she was married to Reverend Samuel W. Butler.
She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers: Jesse, Eldridge, William and Cecil Schaeffer; one sister, Virginia Wolf.
Opal was a graduate of Osbourn High School of Manassas, Va.
She had worked at the Riverside offices of DuBois, and ran her own Day Care, "Little Lambs" for 10 years. Being a preacher's wife, she spent most of her time helping others through church committees and through her role as missionary president.
A lifelong member of the Wesleyan Church, she enjoyed sharing her faith with everyone, especially her close neighbors.
Born and raised in Manassas, Va., she came to Pennsylvania with her husband in 1960, spending many years in Stroudsburg and Weedville, among other communities, until retiring to Penfield in 2014.
Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Weedville, Pa.
