Christine Walker, fifth child of Johann Walker and Eva Schick, was born in Krowica Lasowa, Galicia [now Poland] on November 28, 1889. She was baptized Lutheran in Reichau, Galicia, Austria on December 7, 1889. Christine immigrated to Canada with her parents on May 13, 1899 aboard the ship Gallia.On February 21, 1909 Christine married Kasper Schmidt. They farmed in the Plumas area. Both Kasper and Christine are buried at Tupper Cemetery.
