ONLY THREE MEMBERS OF LARGE FAMILY LEFT
James Luther Calfee, the notice of whose death appeared yesterday in these columns, was born and reared in Mercer County. He was the son of Wilson D. Calfee and was one of a large family of which only Mrs. G.L. Karnes of Princeton; Mrs. A.E. Bailey of Edison, and Miss Florence Calfee of Bluefield, survive. He was sixty-eight years of age at the time of his death. In 1887, he was married to Miss Mary Jane Bailey, a daughter of Estil Bailey, also of this county. To this union were born six children - Mrs. H.E. Russell of Princeton; Mrs. Lizzie Cuff of Idaho; Mrs. Kate Olson of Saskatchewan, Canada; Mrs. Nita Bowen of Revere, Washington, and Wirt and Wilson Calfee of Coolin, Idaho. In 1900 he removed with his family to Revere, Washington, and the following year his wife died, leaving him in that strange community with the care of six small children. He had visited his relatives here several times, and three years ago he was here but seemed restless to go west again, for he had become very much attached to that part of the country, so he went to Idaho and was making his home there with his son when death came to release him from his suffering.
