Ray Hartford Dotson was born February 20, 1928 and went to be with his Lord on Saturday evening, December 24, 2016 having reached the age of 88 years. He was the son of the late James Nelson and Gracie George Dotson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Whitt Dotson.
In addition to his wife Mary, he is also survived by: Children. Roger Dotson (wife Janet) of Sydney, OH, Barbara Dotson-Wurgler (husband Frederick) of Leesburg, FL, George Whitt, Jr. (wife Tammy) of McCarr, KY, Kenneth Ray Dotson of Lexington, KY, Mary Margaret Church of Monticello, KY, and Steven Dotson (wife Bonnie) of Monticello; Sisters, Geraldine Tilfer and Okeyleen Comer of Michigan; Brother, Paul Dotson (wife Faye) of Michigan; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: 1son, Rodney Dotson; 7 sisters, Dora Underwood, Nellie Dotson, Blanche Coleman, Opal Norman, Thelma Ratliff, Edna Totten, and Elsie Hatfield; 7 brothers, Elmer New, Harold New, Troy Dotson, Glen Dotson, Ralph Dotson, James Tennis Dotson, and Earcle Dotson; 1 Grandson; and special Friends, Odie & Gladys Hollars.
He accepted the Lord as his savior 30 years ago. He loved God, family, and friends.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working outdoors.
Christmas was his favorite time of year. He enjoyed putting up Christmas lights and decorating his home to demonstrate the magic of Christmas.
His favorite pastime was watching his T.V…..especially wrestling. He lived, worked, and loved his family as much as anyone ever could.
He adored his lovely wife and will be sadly missed by all.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 after 5pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1pm in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Piney Woods Mission Church Cemetery.
