Death Of Joseph Gappa
Was Shock To The
Effington Community
The sudden death of Joseph
Gappa was a shock to everyone
in and around the Urbank vicinity.
He passed away during the
night of July 15.
Mr. Gappa was born, son of
Math and Anna Gappa October
25, 1898, on a farm in Effington
township. Most of his life was
spent in the community of Urbank.
For eleven years he was
lineman for the Effington Telephone
Company. At the time of
his death he was employed at the
Blake Hotel in Alexandria.
He was married to Mary Dorn
November 6, 1929 at Urbank, and
they had five children, all o[
whom survive. They are Richard
of Parkers Prairie, Dorothy of St.
Cloud and Bernadine, Mary and
Herbert at home.
Other survivors are three brothers
and four sisters: Math Gappa
of Baker, Mont.; Ambrose of
Millerville; Bill of Billings, Mont.;
Mrs. Martin Zinniel (Mary) of
Freeport Mrs. Ted Biniek (Theresia)
of Holdingford; Mrs. Don
Ziebel (Frances) of Alexandria
and Mrs. Joe Ondracek, Jr. (Anastasia)
of Lake Reno.
Funeral services were held July
18 at 10 a. m. at .the Sacred Heart
church in Urbank with Fr. Lentfoehr
officiating. Interment was
in the Urbank cemetery. Those
attending from a distance were
the brothers and sisters of Mr.
Gappa and an uncle, John Klimek
of Hankinson, N. D.
