Margery Hazel (Boyle) Bower passed away December 29, 2016 at age 99 from causes incident to age.

She was born on August 8, 1917 in Ogden, Utah to Clair Boyle Sr. and Hazel Hill Boyle. She grew up attending Ogden city schools.

She continued her education at the Colorado Women’s College in Denver, the University of Utah and Utah State University where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten, first grade and Head Start at several schools in the Ogden area for 18 years.

Her parents owned and operated the Boyle’s Grocery stores where she worked when she was young. Later, she and her husband took over the ownership and ran one of the stores for many more years.

She met the love of her life, Mark Eugene Bower, and they were married July 14, 1940. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mark passed away January 4, 1995.

She served in a number of callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society teacher. She was also a visiting teacher/supervisor.

Mom had many interests and hobbies. In her younger years mom and dad loved dancing, belonging to several dance clubs and the Exchange Club. She and her many friends often traded weeks in their homes playing bridge. Her favorite hobby was firing and painting ceramics with her friends and family. She made over 250 Christmas Santas that went to family, friends and friends of friends! Other hobbies included cooking, knitting, sewing, genealogy, gardening and playing the piano. Mom also was a devoted Utah Jazz fan.

Marge is survived by two children: Mark (Maribeth) Bower, Genie (Timothy) Carver, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Mark, her parents, her brother Clair and one grandson, Aaron Bower.

A very special thanks goes to Todd Gardner, her physical therapist, who kept her walking and laughing for many years. Also to the kind staff at A Step Forward Home Health and Hospice, and Davis Hospital who took care of her.
