HINTON, Jerry Braxton, 78, of Sandston, passed away September 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alkie and Ida Hinton; two brothers, A. C. Hinton Jr. and Robert "Bobby" Hinton. He is survived by his wife, Beth Hinton; and his daughter, Ashley Hinton Mulligan and her boyfriend, Bill Cordeiro; sister, Peggy Wilder and her husband, Manly; several nieces and nephews; and two gardening buddies, Bill Shipman and Ivan Jefferson. He retired from Reynolds Metals Company, now Alcoa. In his later years, he spent a lot of time with his bulldog, Sampson. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, boating and his garden. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 23, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., also where a funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 24, at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
