Veteran N. & W. Agent, Once Stationed in Portsmouth, Stricken at Columbus.
Eustace V. Perdew, 54, of 26 South Washington avenue, Columbus, traveling passenger agent of the Norfolk and Western Railway and once city passenger agent here, died Tuesday in White Cross hospital, Columbus. His death followed an operation he had undergone several days ago.
Mr. Perdew, who was well-known in Portsmouth and Ironton, was stricken several days ago after directing a troop train out of Columbus.
A native of Chillicothe, Mr. Perdew was ticket agent before he was promoted and sent here as city passenger agent, succeeding C. C. Connell, who was transferred to Winston Salem, N. C.
Nine years ago, Mr. Perdew again was promoted and sent to Columbus as traveling passenger agent there for the N. and W. He was a member of the Ironton Masonic lodge and of the Knights Templar and Scottish Rite of Columbus. He was especially well-known in business circles here and in Ironton.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ella Mae Perdew, a daughter, Mrs. Ruth E. Jones of Ironton, and a brother, Clarence Perdew of Cincinnati.
The body will arrive Thursday at the Dealer funeral home, where last rites are to be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m.
Interment will follow in Memorial burial park near Wheelersburg.

*Note: According to the OH. Death Record, Eustace and Ella Perdew's daughter, Ruth Elizabeth Perdew, was b. Jan. 17, 1913 in OH. and d. Oct. 9, 2004 at Berger Hospital in OH. She was marr. to J. Atwood Jones, and at the time she died, she was a widow. Ruth's mother's maiden name was Hartman.
