Joseph A. Nixon, 84, of White City, went to be with our Lord Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 in Panama City. He was born June 13, 1932 to Mcary Andrew Nixon and Clyde Merkerson Nixon in Bainbridge, GA. He was retired from the St. Joe Paper Mill after 40 years.

He served as a paratrooper in the Unites States Air Force with the 82nd Air Bourne Division during the Korean War.

He was a member of Highland View Assembly of God Church in Port St. Joe.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sandra Elaine Nixon.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Nixon of White City; three sons, Michael Nixon and his wife Liz, Bruce Nixon and his wife, Wanda, and Chris Nixon and his wife, Bogey, all of White City; one daughter, Debra Davis and her husband, Glenn of Overstreet; two sisters, Agnes Peavy of Youngstown and Aileen Smith of Wewahitchka; 10 grandchildren, Leigha Thursby, Heather Harris, Adam Nixon, Melissa Brogdon, Whitney Nixon, Michael Davis, Kristy Davis, Richard Davis, Hope Nixon and Joseph Nixon; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Monday, Dec. 26 at Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe with Rev. Michael Carr officiating. Interment followed.

Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown was in charge of the arrangements.
