Obituary
Cecil Andrew Young, age 93, of Smyrna, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at his home. Mr. Young was born in Taft, TN. Cecil was the son of the late Atha and Lizzie Colbert Young.
He is survived by his brother Lenord Young of Pensacola, FL. daughters; Mary Ann Sutherland (John) of Spring Hill, FL and Delores Swearns (Paul) of Brentwood,TN. Son; Michael Young (Nikki) of Smyrna, TN. Grandchildren; Elizabeth Sutherland,Michele Cates,Eric Swearns (Denise),Joel Caldwell (Amanda),Sean Swearns (Tracey),Kena Wright, Joshua Young, Angelica Bell (Stephen), Austyn Young and eleven great grand children. Mr.Young was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Young.
Services to celebrate Mr. Young will be at two o'clock the afternoon of Monday, January 2, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens the Field of Honor. Pall Bearers will be as follows Joel Caldwell,Sean Swearns,Kena Swearns,Joshua Young,Sterling Caldwell and Stephen Bell.
Mr. Young was a WWII infantry veteran that fought in three major campaigns in Ardennes,Rhineland,Central Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Young was also part of freeing and liberating one of the many concentration camps in Europe. Mr. Young defined the word Hero. He was the model of what every American should be and in more ways than one. He served his family, country and fellowman. Mr. Young was a superintendent of building bridges and owned his own concrete business.
