Walter Scott “Scotty” Ellis age 56, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his home with his mother and brother by his side in San Saba, Texas. It was his wish to be cremated.

Scott, his nick name is “Scotty” was born to Doris Fern Putnam and Arthur Lee “Art” Ellis on February 24, 1960 in Houston, Texas.

He attended elementary and middle schools in Houston and he graduated from Richardson High School in Dallas and went on to get his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a minor degree in Forensic Science, he also studied Criminal Justice.

He enjoyed baseball, football, cooking, music and taking care of his two homes in VA and CA.

Scott lived many years in San Diego, CA.

He was in the Navy for seven years until Honorable discharged “a bubble head” as he referred to himself being on submarines for those years; his submarines were the USS POGY and the USS Florida. Scott received many letters of commendations for Nuclear weapons, under water fire control, fire control systems; guns and torpedoes, he received Navy “E” ribbon, Sea Service Deployment ribbon, Letter of commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Expeditionary Medal and Sunliner Dec. 1989, Strike Fighter Squadron 81, He was chosen as “Honor man” by his CO. 215 for his loyalty, attention to duty, dependability and aptitude for naval life.

Scott’s employment; 1995 served at Litton/PRC; serving on the Development/Operational Test Team supporting test document development and performing readiness assessments for a number of systems scheduled for deployment.

In 2000 he joined Integrits Corporation serving in a number of important engineering capacities, his primary job entailed the test and integration of next generation Navy Warfare Systems, in 2014; he relocated to Virginia with Integrits Corp where he was a Sr. Systems Engineer, Scott excelled in his job and received numerous company and Government recognitions, his long term dedication and commitment to excellence in his job has contributed significantly to the successful fielding of numerous state of the art Naval capabilities.

Left to cherish his memory are his Mother, Doris Fern Putnam of San Saba, his brother Mitchell Keith Ellis of San Saba and nephew Matthew Lucas “Matt” Ellis of Slidell LA., his Father Art Ellis of Houston, His aunt and first friend, Deb Young Dibbern and husband Bobby, daughter Mary Ann of Spring, her husband Jorge, son, Vinny, Aunt Brenda McClintock, husband Ross, children Andrea and Austin of Pearland, Aunt Cindy Fleming, husband Jim, children Natalie and Brian of Austin, Aunt Bonnie Malicki of Berkley CA, his beloved uncle; John Walter “Jack” Putnam, for whom Scott is named, Uncle Bobby Putnam, wife Brenda, children, Paul and Anna of Magnolia, Uncle Douglas Putnam, wife Barbara ,children, Justin and Joshua of Dayton, Texas, Uncle James Ellis, Aunt Sharon Abdo Ellis and children Ken and Loyce of Houston, second cousin, Janet Ingram Bennie and her daughter Jennie of Brownwood., and third cousin Hattie Rogers, of San Saba, her sons; Brian and Joe, their wives, and children. Scott had many friends and co-workers in Virginia, California and Texas that he cared a great deal about.

Scott was preceded in death by his maternal grand parents, June Rogers Lucas Hultin of San Saba and Edward Harold “Eddy” Putnam of Giddings, Texas, his paternal grand parents, Paul Arthur and Nora Lee Ellis of Houston, his maternal great grand parents Daisy and Ben Lucas of Lakeview/Richland Springs, Texas, great grand parents Beatrice and Walter Putnam of Brownwood, step grand mother, Bernice Stiewert Putnam of Giddings, two step grand dads; Ammon O. ”Buster” Young and Sam V. Hultin both of Houston, and several great, great, uncles; Joe, Jason, Ben, and Pat Rogers and Robert Kitely, great, great aunts; Ada, Nan ,Bennie Rogers and Ruby Kitely, and third cousins George Rogers, and Bob Kitely all from San Saba County, his two great uncles; Walter “Junior” Putnam of Houston, Alvin Ingram of Brownwood, and great Aunt Katherine Putnam Ingram of Brownwood, Texas.

Scotty will be buried in Richland Springs Cemetery; his service is pending at this time.
