DARRELL A. SIMEON CALLED BY DEATH FRIDAY EVENING

Last Rites For Esteemed Akron Young Man Are Held Here Monday

Darrell Simeon passed away at his home in this city Friday evening July 7, 1939, after an illness that extended over a year and a half, of heart trouble, and complications, aged 27 years and 27 days. During his long and painful illness everything possible was done for his relief and comfort. Although he suffered greatly at times, he was most patient and cheerful through it all.

Darrell A. Simeon, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Simeon, was born at Sutherland, Iowa, June 10, 1912. He spent most of his life in Akron, attending the local schools and graduated from Akron High school in 1930.

Later he attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. He was prominent in all branches of school athletics. On June 10, 1935, he was united in marriage with Miss Idelline Wooton, of Akron. One son, Lawrence, aged eight months, came to bless their union.

Darrell was employed as clerk in local stores and later was a salesman for the Jewel Tea Company, of Sioux City, until ill health compelled him to give up the work. He was a young man of exemplary character, industrious habits and always pleasant and courteous, which won him a host of friends, who deeply regret his untimely taking away and who offer their sincere sympathy to his bereaved wife and other near relatives. The entire community mourns the loss of this popular and promising young man.

Besides his wife and little son, Lawrence, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Simeon, and brother, Kenneth, of Mitchell, S.D.; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Simeon and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. V. Boden, of Akron; his father-in-law, Dr. G.H. Wooton, of Akron, and many other relatives.

Funeral services were conducted Monday morning, July 10, at 8 o'clock, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, of which he was a member, Rev. Fr. Chas. Ernst officiating. The pallbearers were Robert Root, Arnold Brundeen, Lovay Lamoureux, Carroll Fredrickson, Martin Henrich and Floyd Heider. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery here, under the direction of the Christy Funeral Home.

Relatives and friends from a distance in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simeon and family, of Laurens, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burtrand, Albert Burtrand and Mrs. Gertrude Torstenson and daughters, of Vermillion, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gale, Mr. and Mrs. Will Whitehouse, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vondrak, Mrs. Irene Burnight, Joe Miller, Chas. Meyer, Mrs. Albert Green, of Sioux City; Mrs. Clifford Johnson and family, of South Sioux City, Nebr.; Harlow Jcy and Mrs. G. E. Christenson, of Elk Point, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Will Muir, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Braun, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bauerly and son, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Miller, of Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Harrington, of Westfield; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Simeon, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Simeon, Mrs. A.G. Luken, Mrs. Loretta LaValliere, Mr. and Mrs. John Hamman, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamman, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Hamman and Mr. and Mrs. George Lamb, of Le Mars.
