Everett E. Keller, 89, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Kansas Veteran's Home in Winfield, KS. Born August 6, 1927, in Sun City, KS, he was the 5th of 13 children born to George Melvin and Ethel Beatrice (Ward) Keller. Everett graduated from Sawyer High School in Sawyer, KS, in 1946. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1946-1949, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He married Carol L. Jellison on September 2, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Protection, KS. Everett worked for Santa Fe Railroad in Sitka, KS and Home Lumber & Supply in Greensburg, KS, before beginning a more than 27-year career as a letter carrier for the U.S.P.S. in Greensburg, KS. He retired in 1987. After retirement, he worked for the City of Greensburg, mowing, and for Roger Staats on his farm NW of Greensburg. He was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church and Protection Baptist Church. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge and served on various boards and committees during his life. Everett and Carol enjoyed camping, spending winters in Arizona, square dancing, playing shuffleboard, and he loved to crochet. The highlight of his recent life was his Honor Flight in June of 2013.

He is survived by his son: Allen Keller and his wife Billie of Wellington, KS; four grandchildren: Adam Keller (Jennifer) of Goddard, KS, Erin Fenn (Bob) of Derby, KS, Allison Patton (Erick) of Wichita, KS, and Evan Keller of Wellington, KS; six great-grandchildren: Makayla Keller, Isaac Keller, Easton Fenn, Carter Fenn, Carson Fenn, and Brooke Patton; three sisters: Eva Carnegie of Moore, OK, Elveta Keller of Protection, KS, and Edweena Worford (Ron) of Hutchinson, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years: Carol; a daughter: Connie L. Keller; two brothers; and seven sisters.

Funeral service is at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Brandon Hagins presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS, with full military honors.
