Sharon Leigh Leach, 73, Burlington, died on December 29, 2016, at the Coffey County Hospital.
Sharon was born on February 18, 1943, in Iola, to Ellis and Mabel L. Oliver Henson.
On May 8, 1962, she married James Paul Leach in Iola. James died on December 4, 2014.
Sharon grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1961. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Drama from Pittsburg State University in 1978. She later received her Master’s Degree. She taught school at Erie Junior High School. She retired in 1988.
She and James had lived in Iola, Erie, Cherokee, OK, and Atchison, before moving to Burlington in 2002.
Sharon was a member of the Iola United Methodist Church, and the Extension Club, in Burlington.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Randy (Jennifer) Leach, Mound City, and Rob (Lisa) Leach, Andover, her daughters, Rikki (Paul) Bober, Shelly (Mike) Thorp, and Sherry (Shane) Fejfar, all of Burlington, a brother, Bob Henson, Herman, MO, 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 2, 2017, at the Burlington United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church or the Burlington Animal Shelter, and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
