DELMA VERN JACKSON

Velma Vern Jackson was born January 5th, 1894, in Goldendale, the fifth child of Rollo E. and Laura M. Jackson.

She passed away January 25th, 1949 in Portland, Oregon. She is survived by her husband, Nelsen B. Matsen, Sunnyside; a daughter, Betty Jean Taylor, of Prosser; a son, Richard Myles Matsen, of Bickleton; and four sisters, Louise J. Matsen and Edith J. Brandt, of Wapato, Effie J. Haynes of Pullman, Una J. Ward, of Portland; two brothers, Oran Jackson, of Portland, and R. Earl Jackson, of Home Valley; one grandchild, daughter of R. Miles Matsen.

Services were held Monday afternoon, February 28th, at the House of Holman, followed by vault entombment, near her parents, in Lincoln Memorial Mausoleum.

Delma V. Jackson, Daughter, born June 1894, age 6, born in Washington. Delma's parents were listed as Rollo E. Jackson, age 36, born Nov. 1863, and Laura M. Jackson, age 34, born Mar. 1866. The were 5 other children of Rollo and Laura, in the home, 3 more daughters and 2 sons.

In 1910 the family had moved to Fruit Valley, Clark County, Washington.
Delma was listed as age 16, born in Washington.

The 1920 census, in Alder Creek, Klickitat County, Washington, Delma was age 25, the wife of N. B. Matsen, age 32, a wheat farmer.

In 1930 and 1940, Delma's husband wasn't listed in the home, and Delma was listed the Head of the family, married. Her 2 children, Betty, born in Oregon, and Miles, born in Washington, were with her.
