Melissa Kay Martin was born on April 21, 1966 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Marlene (Green) Bryant. Melissa grew up in Avoca, Iowa and graduated from AvoHa High School in 1984. While growing up, she enjoyed playing sports and riding horses. Melissa furthered her education at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated with a degree in accounting.

Melissa was an amazing wife, mother, sister, daughter, Tutu, and friend to all. She worked for many years as an accountant in the casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she lived, and as a financial analyst for the city of Henderson, Nevada. Melissa enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, road biking, triathlons, and traveling, especially to Maui, Hawaii and Jackson, Wyoming.

Melissa died Monday, December 26, 2016 at Star Valley Medical Center in Afton, Wyoming, having attained the age of fifty years, eight months and five days. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Bryant.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband of thirty-one years, Dennis Martin of Las Vegas; her children, Lindsay Martin and her husband Mark Smedinghoff and their daughter Caitlan Melissa Smedinghoff all of Las Vegas, and Dylan Martin of Las Vegas; her mother, Marlene Bryant of Avoca; her brother, Robert Bryant and his wife Diana of Avoca; her sister Christy Mangold of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; her cousins, as well as countless friends all over the country.

Melissa’s love of life and positive attitude will be missed by all. Love you to the moon and back. Forever and always.
