The top memorial is at St Peters Church, Wootton Wawen and reads: In memory of Darwin Galton JP DL of Claverdon Leys in the County of Warwick. Born on the 18th March 1814 died on the 4th of January 1903. He was an active Magistrate sitting upon the Henley in Arden Bench from June 1840. He married three times: First, Mary Elizabeth, elder daughter of John Phillips of Edstone Hall in this County, Secondly Fanny Jane, the third daughter of Peter Arkwright of Willersley in the County of Derby. Thirdly Penelope Maria Elizabeth, the eldest daughter of Richard Edward Cumberland of Middlecave near Malton, Yorkshire. He is buried in a vault outside the church.
