Harvey Edward Walters, 85, passed away August 2, 2012 at his residence.

Harvey was born July 23, 1927 in Robinson, N.C. to the late Everette Jay and Mary Branch Walters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Morgan Walters; a daughter, Brenda Sue Walters; sisters, Louise W. Hallman and Vivian Helton.

He was a member of Bright Light Tabernacle, retired from Bassett Furniture and a veteran of WW II having served in the U. S. Army.

Surviving are his son; Roger Dale Walters of Newton; daughters, Diane Lynn Wood and husband, James of Newton and Emily Patricia Walters of Newton; sisters, Frances Finley of Sumpter, SC, Margaret Singleton of Dillion, SC, Betty Malcolm of Sumpter, SC and Evelyn Eagerton of Lumberton, NC; brothers, Everette J. Walters, Jr. of Fall River, Mass and Joseph Walters of Hickory, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, August 6, at 2:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray York and Rev. Paul White officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
