"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" II Timothy 4:7

Irene Clara Collins Marshall, 93, of DuPont City, peacefully went home to the Lord on Christmas Eve, 2016, at Hubbard Hospice House, after a short illness.

Mrs. Marshall will be remembered as a compassionate woman and devoted wife, mom, sister, grandma, homemaker and friend. Her faith and trust in God was unshakeable. She was always available to pray for anyone who had an illness or special need.

Born in 1923, Irene was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and was a former employee of the Stone & Thomas Department Store in Charleston, as well as being the local Avon Lady. She was a member of the Farrar Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she raised her children in the faith and gained many lifelong friends. She loved singing in the choir and raising her voice in praise.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the late O.T. Collins and Wavie Collins Howley; brothers, Aubrey and Orville Collins; half-brother, James Hanshaw; and sister, Maxine Surface of California.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Toney Marshall; son, John Marshall; daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Dan Harris; and grandson, Adam (Kayla) Harris of South Point, Ohio. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A tribute to the life of Irene will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, December 29, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Jack Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London. Visitation will be at the funeral home two hours prior to the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Farrar Memorial Baptist Church, 5501 Church Drive, Rand, WV 25306.
