Michael Leon “Mike” Humphrey, 60 year old Eufaula resident, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. He was born on Tuesday, June 26, 1956 in Oklahoma City to Manford Dean and Lola Belle (Self) Humphrey.

Mike grew up in the Oklahoma City area where he attended school. He enlisted in the United States Army and served 4 years. While in the Army, he earned his high school diploma and had earned a license for Aviation and Power Plant Operations. Mike received the National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and Sharpshooter (rifle) Medal. After his service in the Army, Mike entered the United States Navy in 1979 through 1981. After his honorable discharge he began working in the oil fields as a machinist, later going to work at Glover Construction Company. He was a farmer at the time of his death. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, piddling in his garage. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and all the animals on his farm. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brother-in-laws, Leon Vanoy and Russell Ott; a sister-in-law, Janet Christine Humphrey.

Michael is lovingly survived by his wife, Linda; his sons, Leon Humphrey of Oklahoma City; James Boyd and his wife Leanne Herbert of Checotah; his daughters, Carrie Standfell and husband Paul of Checotah; Cathy Tamplen of Checotah and Elizabeth Humphrey and her husband Brady Branchcomb of Wainwright and 15 grandkids. He is also survived by his sisters, Marjorie Vanoy of Choctaw and Deanna Ott of Newalla; his brother, Dennis Humphrey of Wellston; his in-laws, John and Rose Hale of Checotah, his sister-in-laws, Sharon Arnett and Virginia Whittle both of Checotah as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a lifetime of friends.
