Ruth Silverson Lumbert, age 98, of Bellingham, WA, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in Bellingham. She was the seventh of eighth children born to Nels and Madeline (Silverson) Nelson on April 6, 1914 in Ganges, Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada. Ruth married Edwin McKay on October 23, 1934 and they moved to Bellingham in 1935. An avid Mariners fan and gardener, Ruth loved to can and was especially known for her garlic dills. Edwin preceded her in death in 1982. She married Lloyd Lumbert in 1983 and Lloyd died in 1986. Ruth was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church and is survived by Ted (Peg) Nelson of Victoria, B.C., Christine (Robert) Ford of Arras, B. C. and numerous other nieces and nephews as well as close friends Meta West and Paul Spinelli. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or a favorite charity. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, McLeod and Northwest. Burial will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park.
