Obituary:
ORIENTAL - Almeda Enoch Saunders, 84, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro.
She was a native of Burlington and was a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School. Her education was continued at Shaw University, NCC University, Winston Salem College, and East Carolina University.
She was employed by the Pamlico County School System and taught at Pamlico Central, Fred Anderson Elementary, and Pamlico Middle School.
She was a member of Pilgrim Chapel M.B. Church and served on the Hospitality Committee, was chairperson of the Women's Day Committee for five years and was a Mother of the Church.
Her funeral will be at noon, Saturday at the New Bern Eastern M.B. Association Headquarters, 885 N.C. 306 North, Grantsboro, with the Rev. Larry Faison, eulogist. The interment will be in Greenleaf Memorial Park.
She is survived by her son, Gerald E. Saunders Jr. of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Amelia Denise Saunders of the home; one grandson; one brother, Claude Allen Enoch of Burlington and one sister, Carlene Barbee of Burlington.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Viewing will be at Oscar's Mortuary on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and at the Association Headquarters one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are by Oscar's Mortuary Inc.
