Richard "Dick" Dale Oswald, the son of Arthur Lee and Enid Alberta (Detty) Oswald, was born on May 4, 1934 at Creston, Iowa. Dick entered eternal rest on August 1, 2009, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, at the age of seventy-five.
Dick served in the United States Army as an Airborne Ranger during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably Discharged on December 25, 1953. On March 2, 1956 he married Peggy Marie Wolard in Corinthian, Mississippi.
Dick lived in California for a few years and returned to Creston in 1972. Dick worked for the City of Creston when he returned from California. Then he went to work at Wellman Dynamics. He retired from Fansteel-Wellman Dynamics as a maintenance supervisor five years ago. He was a former member of the Creston Elks; a member of the Eagles Lodge; and a member of Wellman's Bowling and Golf Teams
