Leta Maxine Johnson, daughter of Mary Ann (Pullman) and Jasper Clarence Yount was born September 30, 1926 in Creston. She graduated from Thayer High School.
On August 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Max Hoover Johnson in Thayer, Iowa. They lived in Thayer, where she and her husband co-owned and operated a grocery store. They moved to Creston in 1950. Leta was a clerk at the Fareway Grocery Store in Creston for many years. Leta was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston and the Elks Lodge of Creston.
Survivors include one son: Dave (wife Joyce) Johnson of Creston; one daughter Marsha (husband Gary) Davis of Creston; seven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Max in 1983, her son Stephen Johnson; one sister Betty Hall and two brothers: Dale and Duane Yount.
