Lisa Denise Powell 51 of 3rd St. S.W., Hickory passed away unexpectedly Saturday November 12, 2016. She was born September 7, 1965 in Catawba county to William Franklin Powell and the late Biber Jean Duke Powell. She was a member of Morningstar First Baptist church and retired as a Home Health Care Aide. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by one brother Mario D. Powell.

She leaves to cherish loving memories two sons Anwar Vanchass Powell of Hickory, NC and Fearious Edsel Anderson of Norfolk, Va. Her father William Franklin Powell of the home. Two brothers Bruce (Jacqueline) Duke of Charlotte, NC. and Leonard Scott of Philadelphia, Pa. Three sisters Peggy Duke of Hickory, NC, Pauline Boateng of Raleigh, NC, and Shelia (Howard) Byrd of Indianapolis, In. four grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held Sunday November 20, 2016 at 3:00pm at Morningstar First Baptist Church with the Rev. david Roberts II officiating. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:30pm-3:00pm at the church.
