Services for Margaret Imotichey Downing, 86, of Ada are 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Ada. Burial will follow at Sandy Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Fillmore. A Wake Service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center in Ada.
Mrs. Downing passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016 at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born October 11, 1930 at Fillmore to Jonas and Josie Lowery Imotichey.
She married Joshua Lee Downing December 27, 1952. He preceded her in death November 18, 1997. Mrs. Downing was at the groundbreaking of Carl Albert Indian Hospital and was one of the first employees of the hospital. She was a Health Systems Specialist at the hospital and retired from the Indian Health Service in 1996. Mrs. Downing was raised in the Sandy Creek Presbyterian Church at Fillmore and later attended the First Presbyterian Church in Ada.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Miller and husband Chris of Ada, Josh “Jay” Downing and wife Jackye of Ada, Vincent Downing and wife Diane of Midwest City, Donna Gipson and husband Darrell of Ada and Doreen Walker of Yukon; a sister, Marlene Tims and husband Don of Purcell; her brothers, Paul Imotichey and wife Betsey of Smyrna, TN, Robert Imotichey and wife Johnie Lou of Fillmore and Dwight Immohotichey and wife Peggy of Fillmore; her grandchildren, Matthew Talley, Margeaux Smith, Jason Downing, Leigh Anne Downing, Joshua Downing, Alison Downing, Rebekah Maritim, Mia Downing, Nendee Downing, Eric Wood, Erin Wood, Elena Wood, Eli Wood, Leonard “Breeze” Walker, August Walker and Cassie Keith; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Yvonne Alberson; brother, Jerry Imotichey; a son-in-law, Greg Walker; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be her grandsons, Matthew Talley, Jason Downing, Joshua Downing, Eric Wood, Eli Wood, Leonard “Breeze” Walker and August Walker.
