Robert Lawrence Polk, 99, passed away Dec. 26, 2016, in Weatherford.
Service is 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Staggs Prairie Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Palo Pinto County, the son of Robert Lee and Mary Ether Morrow Polk. He married Charlsie Sanders on June 1, 1936, in Weatherford. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2000. He was a lifelong resident of Mineral Wells and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
R.L. lived a grand life of 99 years. He worked in Tucker's Tin Shop for many years, and was well-known for the quality of his work. His character is his legacy - Christian, honest, loyal to his family, and respected by all who crossed his path. R.L. loved his family, planting beautiful gardens each year, and sharing the vegetables.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gregg Sublett, of Mineral Wells; son, Randall Polk of Mineral Wells; sister: Ruby Shipley of Weatherford; grandchildren and spouses: John and Patty Robertson of Kentucky, Ricky and Lisa Robertson of Granbury, Jeremy and Stacey Polk of Sanger, and Brittany Polk of Lake Worth; great-grandchildren, John V, Shane, Kim, Chelese, Garrett and Tucker; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Dorothy, Nettie, and Ruth.
