John C. Johnson Dies Early Today
Services Friday at Fayette Church
John C. Johnson, age 89 years, a native of Boone County, passed away this morning at five o'clock at his home near Corinth church in Hendricks county. He had been ill four days and his death was attributed to a complication of ailments.
Mr. Johnson was born in Boone county, a son of Patrick and Hannah (Clements) Johnson and his entire life was spent on farms in Boone and Hendricks counties. He had lived on the farm where his death occurred for the last twenty-eight years. He was a member of the New Mt. Tabor church at Fayette. He was married March 26, 1874 to Martha Elizabeth Bray, who passed away October 8, 1920.
Survivors are two children: Mrs. Estella Wiley and Mrs. Ethel Gilbert, both southwest of Fayette in Hendricks county; four brothers, Albert N. Johnson of Lebanon, Martin L. Johnson of Pittsboro, William P. Johnson of Brownsburg and Herbert M. Johnson of Thorntown; three sisters, Mrs. Nancy E. Burke of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Caroline Cassity of Oklahoma and Mrs. Florence Davis of Indianapolis, and a grand-daughter, Maurine Gilbert.
Funeral services will be held at New Mt. Tabor Baptist church at Fayette, Friday afternoon at one o'clock and burial will be in the Mt. Tabor cemetery.
