ZACHARY 'ZACHARIAH' ANGEVINE Jr. , son of Zachariah Sr & Mary (Naudin)
Angevine; born about 1704 New Rochelle, Westchester Co, NY; died "about 1760 Stratfield, Fairfield Co, CT; m Johannah MALLET @ 1732/bef; dau of John & Johannah
(Lyon) Mallet; b 10 Mch 1710 Stratfield, CT; d (after 1783)."
Mallet's "John Mallet, Huguenot & His Descendants 1694-I894" also:
"It is said of Johannah Mallet that she was 'the handsomest girl who ever crossed the water'; that she was engaged to be married to some gentleman who left her for a journey to the old world. He was away for such a long time that she waited for him and instead married Mr. Angevine."
New Rochelle, NY census in 1710 ; 5049 Virkus v. 4, p. 678
Zachariah Angevine was a godfather for the two baptisms at the French Church of New Rochelle, NY:
Moyse ASSIRE who was baptized 25 May I736
Marie MOYNOT who was baptized 4 Mch I738/9
"Comment: it is questionable that #1 Zachariah Sr, aged 72 & 75 would have been the godfather above;
therefore it is quite likely that Zachary Jr resided in New Rochelle, NY until a short time before acquiring the property listed below. CVA"
Jacobus' "History & Genealogy of Fairfield " v. 1 p. 399: "On 7 Jan 1739/40 John Mallet conveyed land purchased of 'Mr. Johanne Koartland' of New York, to his daughter Joanna, wife of Zachariah Angevine, of Stratfield, Ct., in consideration of L 100 bequeathed to her by the will of her uncle Mr. Lewis Liron of Milford, etc."
Sidney Graves Koon's "Full Blooded Yankee" p. 24: "Zachariah Angevine junior, was one of twenty-one signers of a pact, December 22, 1747, to divide the Commons. In it they all 'promised to be satisfied with the chart of the lands of New Rochelle, drawn by Capt. Bond."
Clyde Angevine Comment: "The children of Zachary Jr have been a most difficult connection to make, for several searchers in passed years. Although no searching of Conn, records has been done to verify Miss Anna Mallet's data, everything seems to fit nicely. The only unusual thing I have noticed, is how Zachary Jr apparently moved back and forth between New Rochelle and Stratfield, CT so much."
