James Braxton Zimmermann passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family on December 14, 2016. He was a graduate of The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. While a student at Southern Methodist University, he was a particularly spirited member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and was enrolled in the ROTC. He served his country in the Office of Special Investigations of the Air Force. After graduating from SMU Law School in 1961, he worked for the Dallas District Attorney. He served as a judge for over twenty years and was later appointed Presiding Judge for the First Judicial Administrative Region. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of many years, Pixley McDonald Zimmermann. He is survived by: daughters Christine Zimmermann, Anne Reich and husband, Paul, Catherine Magruder and husband, Patrick; grandchildren Steven, Elizabeth, and Olivia; and by his sister-in-law, Catherine M. Shirley. Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2016, at 11:30 am at The St. Michael Chapel at St. Michael and All Angel's Church, 8011 Douglas, Dallas, Texas.
